Over 100 guests from 20 countries including leading study travel agents and IALC members attended the Liden & Denz 20th anniversary gala in St. Petersburg on 22 November.
The party at the five-star Sokos Palace Bridge Hotel featured classic Russian entertainment alongside delightful performances by individual Liden & Denz staff and tributes from guest speakers including the first ever Liden & Denz student, Heidi Gstöhl from Liechtenstein.
Dr. Peter Fischer, economical editor of Neue Zürcher Zeitung, reflected on his own experience of learning Russian with Liden & Denz and how much this has helped him during his years as Russian correspondent for the newspaper. Mark Winkler, CEO of Media Touristik, one of Liden & Denz’s very first agents, enchanted the audience with anecdotes going back many years.
Liden & Denz co-founder Walter Denz described some of the schools’ key episodes and achievements, top among them IALC accreditation and the five STM Star Awards.
The evening’s artistic highlights had a special Russian flavour, culminating in a stunning performance by the official Army Choir of Russia’s North-West Military District. The huge birthday cake was delivered into the ballroom with the support of saxophone-playing Irishman Will Dowling, better known to the audience for running a Dublin-based language school.
"A fantastic event mixed with fun, business, networking, drinking and partying – just as a perfectly organised event should be!” said Claudio Cesarano of Globostudy Sprachreisen in Zürich.
