Los Angeles is a vibrant city where it's possible to ski and surf on the same day. The City of Angeles, as it is known, is a world-class and important global centre and commerce. Situated on the West Coast of the United States, it is full of museums and art galleries, live music venues, clubs, bars, and great restaurants.
Located in a valley in Southern California, LA is also surrounded by beaches, forests, valleys and mountain ranges. It is a very large city – the second most populous in the USA – and very cosmopolitan: 17 million people from all over the world live here. In a city of this size, it takes time to travel around, but the public transit system is efficient and easy to use and there is so much to see and do. Living and learning in LA, the home of Hollywood, you can easily spot a celebrity or two. Many actors live here at least for a few years until they become famous, and some of the biggest stars own enormous mansions in this stylish city. You can buy “star maps” and take a tour of the locations of celebrity homes.
