Agents took the opportunity to visit IALC schools across Australia and New Zealand on six fam trips before and after the IALC 2014 Workshop in Brisbane.
In Australia, agents visited language schools in Sydney, Melbourne, Airlie Beach, Gold Coast and Byron Bay. Impact English College showed agents the sights of Melbourne, including the St. Kilda beachfront and the Yarra river. The IALC Sydney schools took agents to Darling Harbour for lunch and across the harbour to visit Manly.
Beautiful, warm autumn weather greeted the visitors to Gold Coast and Byron Bay, who enjoyed visits to Langports Gold Coast and Byron Bay English Language School, beautiful beaches and an afternoon at Sea World.
There was also a post-workshop leisure tour for agents and school delegates to Airlie Beach, where everyone enjoyed some relaxation time at the Whitsundays and visited The Whitsundays College of English. Pascal Carre from Languages and travel in Belgium said that this trip "was a great opportunity to combine work and a bit of discovery of the area"
There were two fam trips to New Zealand. One group of agents took in Auckland and Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island, while a second group travelled from Christchurch to Nelson on the South Island.
At the Coromandel Outdoor Language Centre, agents experienced activities such as archery, bone carving, abseiling and a visit to the hot water beach. Continuing to Auckland, they finished the trip with a harbour cruise and dinner at the Sky Tower. Kim Lawry of Coromandel Outdoor Language Centre said: “The agents all stayed in home stays and really enjoyed the experience of meeting and spending time with kiwi families.”
Highlights of the South Island fam trip included whale watching, vineyard tours and a visit to the spectacular Abel Tasmen National Park near Nelson.
