Programmes Offered
Ali Baba International Center offers a wide variety of Arabic language courses tailored to different types of learners, including students, diplomats, economists, business professionals, young learners, and teachers. Course formats include group classes, private one-to-one lessons, blended (group and private) courses, academic programmes for university students, online courses, teacher training, and Bildungsurlaub-recognised programmes.
All standard courses focus on Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) — the formal language used across 22 Arab countries, from the Arabian Peninsula to the Atlantic. MSA is the language of official documents, media, education, and formal communication throughout the Arab world. Studying MSA provides learners with the linguistic foundation to live, study, or work across Arabic-speaking regions.
While written Arabic is standard across the region, spoken Arabic varies by country. At Ali Baba, Colloquial Arabic (Aamieh) is taught through private, tailored sessions (one-to-one or small private groups). Learners can study different regional dialects, with the Levantine dialect being the most popular, widely understood, and practical for everyday communication. Key topics include greetings, daily routines, shopping, banking, travel, health, and family life.
Course Levels and Structure
Courses are offered at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Groups may be further subdivided based on demand and enrolment. To determine the right level, students complete an online placement test and interview 3–4 weeks before the start of their programme.
The academic week in Jordan runs Sunday to Thursday, with 20 teaching hours per week (4 hours per day). This totals 80 hours of instruction per month, equivalent to 4 credit hours at most universities. One academic hour equals 50 minutes.
Classes typically run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with group course participants receiving 4 hours of Arabic instruction daily. Exact schedules may vary depending on the group’s level and classroom availability.
