VanWest Launches Early Childhood Program

Why Should YOU study ECE at VanWest College?

The Early Childhood Education program prepares you to work in various early years programs. You will learn the foundational knowledge required to work with children, educators, families, and community professionals. You will be guided and mentored by experienced Early Childhood Educators as your college instructors. The ECE program offers hands on learning inside and outside of the classroom. The small class sizes are designed to encourage you to connect with your instructors so you can have a personalized post-secondary experience.

What about practical experience?

You will be able to apply your Early Childhood Education knowledge to the field during three practicums. The practicums are spread throughout the program, so you will be able to gain practical experience that you can reflect on during the ECE program. You will complete three to four courses that prepare you for each practical experience. You will be able to build relationships with early years programs and connections that will flourish during your professional ECE career.

Studying ECE at VanWest College means you will learn about the history of Early Childhood Education, the role of Early Childhood Educator, child development, guiding and caring for children, creating and implementing an early years curriculum, communicating and working effectively with educators, families, and community professionals, and the importance of children’s health, safety, and nutrition in the early years program.

It’s important to remember that you should come to class ready to make science experiments and math activities, create sensory explorations, read children’s stories, sing songs, dance, and have fun! At VanWest College, our ECE program will teach you how to learn by doing and have fun with a purpose!
