Expanish Costa Rica Expands Programme to Become a Year-Round Destination

Expanish has announced an exciting expansion of its Spanish language programme in Sámara, Costa Rica, introducing year-round availability, a lower minimum age of 16, and a range of new academic and accommodation options designed to enhance the student experience.

Set in the laid-back coastal town of Sámara on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the programme blends high-quality Spanish language instruction with an immersive cultural experience. Known for its golden beaches, warm waters, and “pura vida” lifestyle, the town provides the perfect setting for developing practical communication skills through interactive classes and guided activities that help students engage with local culture and nature.

A varied social programme further enhances the experience, including hikes, shared group meals, Latin dance classes (such as salsa, merengue and bachata), and yoga sessions with local instructors.

From 11 May onwards, Sámara will operate as a fully year-round destination, with students able to start courses every Monday.

Key programme updates

• Year-round destination: Sámara now offers continuous enrolment, with weekly Monday start dates from 11 May onwards.
• Lower minimum age: The programme now welcomes students aged 16+ (previously 18+), broadening access for younger learners.
• Morning class schedule: New morning classes allow students to enjoy afternoons free for activities, cultural experiences while enjoying the wonderful Samara sunset.
• New student residence: The launch of Student Residence Pura Vida, Expanish’s first residence in Costa Rica, provides a dedicated accommodation option for international students.

The school has also expanded its course offering to include:

• Intensive 20h/week (group course)
• Intensive Combined (20h/week group + 10 private lessons per week)
• Semi-private classes (minimum 2 students, ideal for friends or families traveling together)
• Long-term bookings, opening the program to more extended stays.

Ongoing programmes include a range of immersive Spanish learning options such as Intensive Spanish, Spanish & Surf, Spanish & Yoga, combined group and private lessons, and semi-private classes.

With 20 years of experience in language education, Expanish offers immersive Spanish programmes across some of the most vibrant destinations in Latin America and Spain. In addition to Sámara, students can study in cities including Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, while younger learners can join the school’s summer camp programme in La Fortuna, Costa Rica.
