Adult Spanish Programs (16+) – Sámara

The Spanish programme in Costa Rica is designed to meet the needs of learners from all ages who want to experience the real meaning of “Pura Vida”. Offering high-quality language instruction combined with experiences immersed in the easy vibes of the beach town of Sámara, in the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, our classes focus on practical communication skills, while guided activities to explore nature and the local culture immerse participants in the Costa Rican lifestyle.

Social activities, such as hikes, group meals, latin dance lessons (salsa, merengue, bachata),and yoga sessions with locals; provide unique settings to practice Spanish and build connections. With experienced instructors and a vibrant learning community, this program ensures a rewarding and memorable experience for all participants.

Adult Spanish Programs (16+) – Sámara Beach

A “Pura Vida” immersion experience on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, with three options: Intensive Spanish, Spanish & Surf, and Spanish & Yoga. Small groups (max. 8), 20 lessons/week, and three annual intakes. Accommodation options include homestay, hotel or studio apartments.

Sámara Beach is a perfect place to learn Spanish while enjoying a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. With its calm waters, palm-lined shores, and nearby “secret” beaches, students can combine language classes with outdoor activities like surfing, kayaking, and hiking. The town’s cafés, markets, and community events offer plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish with locals, making Sámara an ideal destination for immersive learning and authentic Costa Rican experiences.

Unique morning and evening activities
The Costa Rica programme provides an all-encompassing Spanish experience beyond the classroom by creating active cultural, social and leisure activities that will immerse participants in the rich Spanish culture, music, and nature. The activities are typically held in the mornings and evenings*, and allow to advance in Spanish in a relaxed and informal setting while enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica. They include:

Welcome Tour – A 2-hour guided town tour with an Expanish coordinator to help new students get oriented in Sámara, including banks, supermarkets, medical offices, the organic market, yoga studio, Iona Café, and key local spots.
Hikes – Easy 2–3 hour hikes to nearby “secret” beaches – Playa Izquierda and Punta Indio – with time to enjoy the views and swim.
Dance Class – 1-hour group class at Iona Café with a local instructor, focusing on Latin rhythms such as salsa, merengue, bachata, and cumbia, with optional practice afterward.
Yoga Class – 75-minute yoga session in a private shala in central Sámara, taught in Spanish.
End-of-Week Toast – A 2-hour social gathering at a local bar or restaurant featuring typical drinks, karaoke in Spanish, and time to celebrate with classmates and locals.
