WSE launches summer STEM Camp with Lord Wandsworth College

Wimbledon School of English is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new programme in collaboration with leading independent boarding school, Lord Wandsworth College.

The course is designed to give students a real taste of UK boarding school life and features a STEM syllabus taught by LWC’s specialist teachers, a night in a survival camp with LWC’s outdoor pursuits specialists, and the opportunity to work with LWC personal trainers on advanced full body workout regimes in the brand new state of the art gym. In addition students will have the opportunity to try other disciplines with a choice of sampler modules in subjects such as  Art and Design, Computer Studies, and Entrepreneurship.

The students will stay in a separate boarding house run by LWC staff, and for relaxation they will join the English Study Camps (WSE’s junior branch) students for activities and excursions. They will end on a high note with a talk from the Headmaster and a formal dinner.

Jane Dancaster, CEO of Wimbledon School of English said:

“We are very excited about this new boarding school taster run in collaboration with LWC’s specialist staff. We think it’s perfect for students looking for something more than a traditional summer camp, or those thinking of taking a full immersion programme at a UK independent school but wanting to try it first. The programme is stimulating, challenging and fun, designed to engage and inspire students and develop essential skills such as confidence, communication and problem solving.  I really love every part of this varied programme and wish I wasn’t too old to take part!”

Will Dixon, Chief Operating Officer, Lord Wandsworth College added:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Wimbledon School of English on this pioneering programme, which offers students an authentic experience of boarding school life alongside hands-on exploration of STEM subjects and our renowned outdoor programme, all led by our highly experienced teachers. Our longstanding relationship, built over years of successful summer camps at LWC, has laid the foundation for this exciting collaboration, and we’re proud to be combining our expertise to deliver something truly distinctive and innovative.”

Lord Wandsworth College (founded in 1922) is a leading independent boarding school set in a beautiful 500 hectare campus on the Hampshire/Surrey borders, just an hour from London.  It is ranked in the top 1% of UK schools and colleges for A level performance and was shortlisted for Co-educational Independent School of the Year in the 2025 awards.

Established in 1964, Wimbledon School of English has been running juniors programmes since July 2016 and re-branded their juniors division as English Study Camps in 2023. Wimbledon School of English and English Study Camps are accredited by Accreditation UK (the British Council) and are members of English UK, YLEUK, IALC, Quality English and ALTO.

IALC congratulates Wimbledon School of English on the launch of its new STEM-focused boarding school taster programme in partnership with Lord Wandsworth College. As WSE marks its 10th anniversary at LWC next year, this initiative reflects the school’s continued innovation and dedication to delivering exceptional, immersive learning experiences for young international students.
