Kevin McNally Appointed President of IALC

Kevin McNally, owner and director of Torquay International School/ International House Torquay officially took over from Robin Adams, of CES as President of IALC at the 2023 IALC Workshop earlier this month. Each IALC president holds the position for three years and Kevin personally thanked Robin for guiding the association through the difficult times of Covid 19.

He had this to say about his new position.

“My association with IALC goes back to the mid-1990s so it feels like the highlight of my career to become IALC president and IALC occupies a unique space in our sector. It’s a space where agents and schools can become true partners and agents and schools can become true friends. And I’m going to work hard over the next 3 years to protect and to develop that space for all of us.

This has been our 40th anniversary in 2023. 40 years since IALC was created by a group of like-minded schools who wanted to make a difference in our sector and market independent schools that can give the best quality to students around the world.

The 2023 IALC Board

Exiting president Robin Adams had this to say of his tenure:

“While I would not have chosen to serve the IALC Community as President during the COVID period, it was an intensely interesting and rewarding period.  At the start, I had three main goals:

  • to ensure that IALC provided year-round marketing initiatives for members;
  • to create joint marketing campaigns that simultaneously supported agent recruitment efforts, but leveraged economies of scale that reduced the costs of acquisition for individual schools;
  • to utilize digital platforms that facilitate improved operations between agents and schools.

Thanks to the tremendous dedication of my fellow Board members and the IALC Secretariat, we were able to champion innovative ideas that were in the spirit of the founding members who formed the International Association of Language Centres 40 years ago.  I wish the new Board great success and I look forward to the new innovations that will continue to assist our quality schools.”

Other position changes were:

Vice-president of Marketing: Julia Patasheva, GCI takes over from Anna Bell of Langports.

Vice-president of Marketing: Justin Quinn takes over from Bernhard Roters of CLIC

Vice-president of Quality Assurance: Hauke Tallon, Chief Executive of London School of English takes over from Kevin McNally, TIS.
