The school has 3 buildings with 21 classrooms in a small historic square, just 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre. Our language courses are suitable for international students aged 13 to 80+ who want intensive language courses or language holidays:
General English Courses (age 16+)
Improve your communicative ability in our well-structured morning lessons and meet your specific needs with our range of inclusive afternoon options.
25+ Courses (age 25+)
Studying in small classes, become confident using English in everyday life and workplace situations. Courses can be combined with individual tuition.
Examination Courses (age 16+)
Improve your communicative ability and prepare for the examination relevant to your level and objective: IELTS or Cambridge FCE, or CAE.
50+ Courses (age 50+)
Language holidays combining English practice with an enjoyable, inclusive excursion programme organised and accompanied by local experts.

Our social programme
At ELC Chester the activities outside the classroom are a very important part of school life. We believe that language and culture are linked and we have designed a wide range of activities and excursions to help you use your English while you learn about British life and culture. While you are learning English in Chester you will have the opportunity to explore interesting places, share new experiences with your new friends from all over the world, get to know your teachers outside of the classroom and have lots of fun!
We organise student trips to North Wales, Liverpool, Manchester, The Lake District, The Peak District, Shrewsbury, London, Edinburgh; and local activities like theatre nights, live music, team sports matches and fitness classes.
We organise lots of free activities like: Chester city walks, Pub evenings, International food evenings, coffee mornings, ghost walks, guided art exhibition tours and more. We have also designed special free activities for you to focus on your English development while you are having fun, like CV writing workshops, Book clubs and English Corner, an opportunity to meet local people and introduce their favourite elements of local life and culture.
