Learn Thai in Bangkok Thailand!
A City of Contrasts!
Bangkok is a vibrant city of contrasts, where ancient wats (temples) sit alongside brutalist architecture and modern luxury apartments. Eat some of the best food you’ve ever tasted from a mobile eatery by the side of the road or sit down to a feast in a courtyard restaurant dripping with orchids and greenery. Experience the high life, shopping in airconditioned malls with designer brands, or explore the numerous street markets which seem to sell anything and everything at a very reasonable price, – the choice is yours.
Wherever you go in Bangkok, the Thai people are friendly and welcoming, and often eager to help visitors practise Thai. Cultural respect is deeply rooted here, and students quickly gain insight into Thai values like politeness, community, and hospitality simply by living in the city.
What to See
Historic landmarks such as the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and the nearby Wat Pho showcase Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, which is still very much alive today, with over 90% of Thais practicing Buddhism.
Bangkok is also scattered with numerous impressive art galleries such as the Queen’s Gallery and the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, where visitors can explore everything from traditional Thai works to cutting-edge contemporary exhibitions in inspiring modern spaces.
After dark, areas like Khao San Road come alive with music, food, and international crowds, giving students a taste of Bangkok’s famous nightlife scene.
Getting Around
Traffic can be somewhat overwhelming in the city centre but luckily there are many other options available to navigate this bustling and complex city beside traditional buses, taxis and tuk-tuks. Sky trains, the underground metro, motorcycle taxis and even river taxis all help cut through the queues and add a good deal of excitement to any journey, though some are a safer bet than others!
Whether exploring temples, tasting local cuisine, or enjoying evening social life, the city offers endless ways to connect language learning with real cultural experiences.
