Escuela de Idiomas Nerja, founded in 1980, stands in the very centre of town, only a few minutes walk from the local scenic beaches. Housed in a typical Andalusian building with a good-sized tropical garden, the School has 16 indoor and outdoor fully equipped classrooms.
Special mention should be made of the garden, which is perfect for holding class or just relaxing during breaks at our outdoor cafeteria.
A short stroll will bring you to the Club Costa Nerja, our own student accommodation, which not only offers high quality student accomodation, but also a cafe, bookshop, library and a large courtyard to study with classmates. It has 14 rooms, 6 studios and 2 apartments.
We offer a variety of courses with a complementary activity programme in order to enjoy and learn in this beautiful and unique place.
Insofar as methodology is concerned, the School and the manuals that it uses follow a Task-based approach. Aside from the Communicative Method, our goal is significant and real teaching of Spanish. Classes are taught exclusively in Spanish.

Programmes Offered
Exclusively dedicated to teach Spanish in Spain as a foreign language, the School has grown over the years and now offers more than fourteen different types of courses for all ages and interests.
According to the methodology, the School incorporates the “Task-Based Approach” with communicative methodology into its teaching and programs.
An enthusiastic and committed team of more than 20 professionals is available to our students to make their stay an unforgettable experience. Our directors, teachers, and staff are all fully qualified for their respective roles.
Our teachers are native speakers with university degrees in philology or the humanities, as well as specialized training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language in Spain—at the master’s level, university expert level, or equivalent.
Our courses go from the most general to more specific or more original and entertaining which combine Spanish learning with funny activities.
Intensive Course: 20 lessons per week
Superintensive Course: 30 lessons per week
Club 50+ Course: 15 lessons per week
One to One Course: a custom-made course catering to students’ individual interests.
Spanish for Specific Purpose: DELE, CCSE, SIELE exam preparation/Spanish course for teachers.
In addition to the scheduled courses listed above, we also offer a unique immersion program for groups of teenagers aged 12 to 18, with Spanish classes in the morning and fun cultural activities in the evening.
We also have extensive experience working with Erasmus+, CSN, and Bildungsurlaub.

Nerja is a picturesque coastal town located on the eastern edge of Spain’s Costa del Sol, approximately 50 km from Málaga. Known for its whitewashed buildings, narrow cobbled streets, and vibrant atmosphere, it offers a blend of traditional Andalusian charm and modern amenities.
The town boasts over 14 km of coastline, featuring pristine beaches like Burriana and Calahonda, as well as secluded coves nestled among cliffs. The famous Balcón de Europa, a cliffside promenade, provides panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and is a popular gathering spot for both locals and visitors.

Exams
Escuela de Idiomas Nerja is an official preparation and examination center for the DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera), certified by the Instituto Cervantes. The school offers dedicated DELE preparation courses, designed to enhance students’ skills in all exam components.
Students receive personalized attention in small groups and can benefit from mock exams, exam strategies, and progress tracking. Teachers are experienced in exam formats and offer targeted feedback to help students achieve their certification goals.
In addition to DELE, the school offers Business Spanish courses with optional certification from the Madrid Chamber of Commerce. Students also receive ongoing academic support through tutoring and office hours with instructors.
