Testimonials

I studied at Impact English College for four weeks, and I really enjoyed the experience. The teachers, who are very attentive and pedagogical, make the classes truly enjoyable. This allowed me to progress quickly and solidify my English foundations. The class was welcoming and dynamic, and I was able to make many friends, especially thanks to the activities organized by the school.Among them was Singlish, an original club where we learn English by analysing song lyrics, as well as excursions to Melbourne, which allowed me to explore the city and bond with other students. I highly recommend this school!

I worked as a nurse in Korea for four years. I’ve always dreamed of living abroad, so I came to Australia. I love coffee, and that’s why I chose Melbourne, a city famous for coffee. After living here, I wanted to learn more about coffee, so I decided to take a Barista course. I wanted to experience life overseas, and Melbourne seemed like the perfect place because of my love for coffee. The General English course helped me get comfortable speaking English, even when I made mistakes. The Barista course was great because I learned about different types of coffee and practical skills. I recommend it to anyone who wants to work in a cafe. I also joined some of the Impactivities, and they were fun and helpful! The Barista course is perfect for people who want to work in a cafe or are passionate about coffee, and the English course is great for anyone who wants to improve their confidence in speaking!

When I decided to study English I was looking for a college that would give me both a multicultural experience, and help me to improve my English skills. In addition, Impact has an English Only Policy that applies at all times and everywhere. Since I started at the college and throughout my study journey so far, I have received a lot of support from my teachers. The counsellors and the staff are always there for us at any time. Impact provides us with excellent facilities, and the best of all are the ‘Impactivities’, which are a great opportunity to share time with our classmates and meet more people. Developing my English at Impact has given me the skills to talk to more people without being intimidated by making mistakes. I have been able to put into practice all the things I have learned. One of the best things that I have done at Impact has been to make friends in the different levels or courses I have taken.

Studying General English for 10 weeks in Melbourne was a truly transformative experience. In just a short time, I was able to immerse myself in a diverse, English-speaking environment that pushed me to use the language daily. The intensive classes helped sharpen my grammar, vocabulary, and listening skills, but what really made a difference was being surrounded by people from all over the world. It wasn’t just about learning in the classroom—every conversation outside of school, from cafes to public transport, was an opportunity to practice and grow more confident in my abilities. Melbourne’s cultural scene also made the experience unforgettable, as I could explore different neighbourhoods, meet locals, and engage with other students from around the globe. By the end of the 10 weeks, I didn’t just leave with better English skills—I left with a broader perspective, new friendships, and a deeper understanding of both language and culture.

Choosing this school has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Throughout this year I have been able to improve my English skills due to the high quality of education that the teachers at this college provide. Furthermore, at this college, I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people from different countries like Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil. I have made a lot of good, unique, and funny memories with the other students and teachers here.In addition, the college has high-quality facilities, so you can enjoy the process of learning English in a very comfortable environment. Even though the college has the strict “English Only” policy inside the campus, the reality is that it will be the most useful thing that you will ever experience. This rule ensures a fully English environment, so you are always guaranteed to be using your English! Another important fact to mention is that the college not only has the General English course, but also offers Cambridge and IELTS courses. These courses prepare you for the exams and are very useful for your academic aspirations. Even if you want to work in Melbourne, these courses will be your best option. This whole year at Impact has been an enriching experience. This is the best college in Melbourne. If you have the opportunity, you should choose this college.

I studied at Impact for one and a half years, starting from General English (GE) followed by almost every single course offered at Impact. I did GE, Extreme English Excel, IELTS/EAP, Cambridge B2 First, and Barista/Café English. I loved the Barista course like everybody does, but so far, Cambridge is still my favourite. It’s a 12-week course with the same group of people, and it’s lots of fun. Sometimes we hung out and shared different aspects of our cultures. Practicing speaking, listening, writing, grammar and vocabulary with funny teachers makes these topics much easier to learn. You learn academic English, which to me is like a combination of General English and IELTS. It isn’t too stressful, and it’s useful in your academic life! I’m currently studying at RMIT University. I’ve found what I’ve learnt from Impact has been useful and has made my communication skills much better – not only for study, but for making friends as well.

When people ask me where I study and I say Impact, the reaction is always the same: “That’s the best school in Melbourne!”. I could really use many different adjectives to explain the amazing reputation that Impact has, or talk about all the different courses they offer like Cambridge, IELTS, Extreme English, Barista, etc, but today, I want to talk about something that makes all the difference in my process of learning English and also in my whole experience living in Australia: Empathy. The experience of living in a different country, literally on the other side of the world, far from family, friends, pets, food, etc is amazing but it can be quite scary sometimes. But being surrounded by people who understand exactly what you feel makes everything easier. Everyone at Impact, staff and teachers, have had the experience of living abroad or learning a second language so they all know in detail how you feel. This empathy doesn’t only show in the constant smile from the girls at the reception, or the jokes at the café, but also in the way teachers talk about different topics and adapt the classes to the different realities of students coming from all over the world. It doesn’t matter if you know very little English or if you have an incredible proficiency, the level of professionalism, attention, respect, and the caring feeling everyone at Impact has for you, and also the many friends you are going to make here, will transform Impact into your Australian home. And when you hear someone saying, “This is the best school in Melbourne!”, it will be impossible not to say, “Yes, it is!”

I did Barista/Café English course at Impact. The course was really interesting not only because it helps you to get a good job in hospitality but also because of the very interesting skills I achieved during the course. At the beginning I thought it was mostly a practical course but actually, at the end, I’m completely satisfied because I learnt a lot regarding the life in Australia as well: food, cheese, wine, drinks, recipes, hygiene and RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) are a few subjects covered during the course. I learnt everything about the coffee from the plantation, processing and coffee roasting till every secret and recommendation in order to make an awesome coffee: not only a classic “short black” but every kind of “coffee” among the many different ones from the typical Australian coffee menu (especially the ones made with delicious and smooth-textured milk). Because the course has both theoretical and practical subjects, it was a challenging and fun experience! At the end of the course, I gained the ability to make a very tasty and beautiful coffee with different types of latte art on the top (such as the heart, rosella, tulip and swan latte art). We also visited some cafés and a coffee roasting house to understand what is behind of the Australian coffee culture: it has been simply exciting and awesome to discover the “world” behind the final cup of “coffee”. Last but not least, I met awesome teachers and funny classmates, so definitely an interesting course!

I decided to study at Impact because I wanted to study in a college with a multicultural group and because of the ENGLISH ONLY rule that applies at all times and everywhere. So, I came to Impact, and I had the time of my life! Right from the beginning, everyone made me feel at home; their lovely and committed teachers, the counsellors always ready to help students. How could you not love the Impactivities? Several extra classes (outdoor activities, job club, pronunciation, writing, conversation) taught by amazing teachers who are now my friends too. What I love the most about Melbourne is the variety of activities that people can do after class, work or on the weekends. It is incredible: cycling, camping, jogging (because of the enormous quantity of parks everywhere), footy, soccer, rugby, F1, tennis, just to mention a few! You can find markets in any suburb, night-time music concerts as well, so it is almost impossible not to do something every day. I started in General English (Pre-Intermediate). It gave me enough confidence to improve my speaking and correct many mistakes. Then, I took Extreme English (Foundation and Excel) which helped me to improve my writing and speaking skills considerably with regular presentations, role plays, topics conversations, emails, letters and essays, for example – perfect for someone who wants to improve their skills quickly! At the end of my Impact studies I enrolled in Cambridge FCE. This was by far my biggest challenge. If in Extreme English I had a lot of homework every day, then in FCE class it was tripled! I kept improving in an academic way and always had the support of the best teachers. After 10 weeks I felt really confident to face the final FCE exam.

I learned not only Hospitality English and Café making skills but also Australian café culture from the Barista/Café English course. I liked the fact that the course includes café visits and Barista training sessions which you can practice making coffee and have work experience at a cafe and serve coffee to Australian local customers. I was able to acquire practical and instructive English that I can use in conversation. The café experience while studying English was a valuable experience! There is also wine and cheese tasting, so the vocabulary I have to express tastes and aroma has increased. I also got accustomed to speaking English and briefly summarizing my opinion in public through the wine and cheese presentation. I am really grateful for that experience! I feel that I was able to learn practical and useful English in everyday life and in a work environment, rather than English that I can use to pass a test and examination. With my classmates, I was glad that I was able to spend a very fulfilling time towards achieving the same goal and interests. I was surprised to find that preparing a resume and for an interview was completely different to my country, but I was able to prepare for looking for a job. I recommend the Barista Café English Course for people who like coffee and English as well as those who want to work in a local café in Australia.
