English Outdoors (EO) is an original concept combining English & Tourism into one unique experience. English Outdoors utilizes “Public Space” (indoors and outdoors) and excursions across the city to help you improve your English fluency while exploring all that NYC has to offer. We specialize in creating immersive experiences that combine language practice with the vibrant culture of New York City. Our English & NYC Discovery experiences are ideal for free-spirited, independent, and adventurous travelers who are looking for a unique combination of English and tourism. Instead of sitting in the same classroom everyday, you will discover indoor and outdoor locations all over the city including Bryant Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Industry City, Essex Market, Madison Square Park, Pier 57 and more.

Programmes Offered

No physical school: all our programs are taught outside of the traditional classroom. Why stick yourself in a room with four walls when you can practice your English in the heart of the beating city? All our English programs in New York take place in indoor and outdoor locations all over the city, allowing you to practice your English while making the most of New York and enjoying the best views in the city. No book: we focus on speaking and fluency practice and have developed our own pedagogical materials. Our Language Guides incorporate error correction and tailored language practice every week to help you see noticeable improvement even after just 1 week. Small groups: average 5 and maximum 8 per group, for plenty of opportunities to practice English while discussing topics related to New York.

English Outdoors programs in NYC include:

Adult sessions from March to December (17+)

Teen summer camps for 14-17 years old

Young adults summer camps for 18-22 years old.

Adult students can stay in a homestay and choose between Room Only, Bed & Breakfast or Half-Board, depending on the level of independence they wish to have during their stay. All our homestays are located in safe and residential areas in Brooklyn and are recruited by us – no middle man! – so we know them well.

Teens and Young Adults stay in our student residence in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, a prime location only one subway stop to Manhattan. Brooklyn Heights is a vibrant neighborhood, home to many restaurants, shops, and the Brookyn Promenade with the best view on the Manhattan skyline.

All locations have been carefully selected based on comfort and accessibility and vary between outdoor and indoor locations to allow for all types of weather.

Three mornings per week we are on the move, practicing English and exploring the city with EO’s unique Discovery Days. These Discovery Days are part of every program, and allow students to embark on an exciting journey through the streets of New York City!

From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, Discovery Days give a fully immersive experience that help build English fluency and confidence. These excursions include walking tours, museum visits, famous landmarks, social activities, and more. We delve into themes related to art, immigration, architecture, movies, politics, finance, history, and more all while experiencing the bustling energy of NYC firsthand.
