The Cambridge Academy of English (CAE) was founded in 1975, and we have been promoting young learner courses since 1991. At CAE, and on our courses, you will find a friendly, caring and hard-working environment ideal for serious language learning, but which also allows time and space for fun, friendship, games and laughter and personal development.
For our summer courses we are based at Stamford school, an award winning school founded in 1532 and with exceptional facilities in the fabulous Georgian market town of Stamford, Lincolnshire.
For us, each CAE student is special and different, with particular needs and objectives. We are small enough for every student to be important as an individual, but also big enough to provide a range of courses and levels for children and teenagers.

Programmes Offered
Young Learner English Courses Courses for Children and Teenagers (8-17). We run three courses: for 8 to 12 years old, 12 to 15 years olds and 14 to 17 year olds.
- 20 hours of formal language tuition for 14 to 17 year olds
- 15 hours for 8 to 12 and 12 to 15 year olds
Our Young Learner English Courses for children and teenagers are all ‘fully-inclusive’. They include tuition, accommodation, excursions, full sport, art and activity programme, airport transfers, all meals, admissions and insurance.
Young learner students receive an end of course report and CAE certificate on departure.

Stamford School boarding houses
Our residential accommodation is in the boarding houses of Stamford School. These are located very close to the Stamford school Sixth Form site that forms our campus. The rooms are spacious and bright and are for between 1 to 5 students with most being for 2 to 4 students. We ensure that students share with students from other countries to help them practice their English and make new friends. Meals are served in the main school dining halls on the Sixth Form school site. Students washing is done once a week and bedlinen is changed weekly. All boarding houses have chill-out areas to relax in, games rooms and tv/film rooms.
- Residence
The town of Stamford is less than an hour north of Cambridge. This is very convenient for the full day excursions, and equally convenient for airport transfers to/from the 4 main London airports.
Stamford School St Martins site is located to the south of the town centre, in a quiet residential area. The site is close to extensive grounds for all sports, including football, cricket, tennis and rugby. As part of our courses, our students will learn about the places they will visit so they get the most out of these visits. Our excursions usually will include a full-day visit to London, Cambridge and local visits into the historic Georgian town of Stamford. These are fully supervised visits, where the older students get some shopping time in groups.

We strive for and achieve a great nationality mix on our courses typically welcoming 15 to 20 different nationalities across the summer. We also achieve good returner rates and personal recommendations from former students.
Our courses are fully inclusive with no extra costs for additional activities.
We will meet your child at the airport and arrange transfers direct to/from the school. There is no extra charge for these providing students arrive / depart between the hours of 09.00 and 19.00 on set arrival / departure days and to/from the 4 main London airports. These are Luton, Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick. Additionally, we provide inclusive transfers on a similar basis to / from London St Pancras International for Eurostar services. This can be convenient for some students and save flying too.
