Testimonials

A year ago, I decided to travel to Italy to explore food culture and everything that comes with it. To make the experience more meaningful, I decided to learn Italian, believing that speaking the language would bring me closer to the authentic culture. I didn’t want to be a superficial tourist, limited by only speaking English; speaking Italian would allow me to connect with everyone, young and old. After searching online, I found the Italian language school BABILONIA in Taormina and immediately knew it was the right choice. I booked a three-month course, from March to June, along with a shared apartment with other students from the school. Although it was my first time traveling alone and for such an extended period, I felt safe and at home as soon as I arrived, both at the school and in Taormina. The locals are kind and curious, and when they found out I was studying at the Babilonia school, they often smiled and sometimes even gave me small discounts. I quickly realized how much the school is appreciated, and I was proud to be a part of it. I immediately felt a sense of belonging to the city, watching it come alive from the start of the tourist season through the summer, with lively evenings and never a dull night. Learning Italian at the BABILONIA school was a lot of fun, with patient, generous, and knowledgeable teachers. I also took a food and wine course, which turned out to be an incredible experience, shared with another student who later became a close friend. This course was a deep dive into Sicilian cuisine and wine, and it was truly inspiring. During my stay, I had unforgettable experiences like hiking on Mount Etna, horseback riding along the beaches of Giardini Naxos, and visiting producers of cheese, olive oil, and chocolate, where I learned about Sicilian traditions and the importance of sustainable agriculture. I also joined a trip to the Aeolian Islands, ending with a magical picnic and wine tasting at a beautiful vineyard. These three months have been the best of my life; I feel completely immersed in Sicilian culture and have made significant progress in learning Italian—exactly what I wanted. I’ve enjoyed my time so much that I’ve decided to stay for the rest of the summer, deeply grateful for all I’ve learned, experienced, and for the wonderful people I’ve met. Thank you so much for everything!

The Italian language school BABILONIA is truly a dream. From the staff and management who are absolute angels to the wonderful, simply amazing teachers, all in a fabulous place like Taormina … what more could you ask for? I had the great fortune to spend two weeks here for teacher training course and it was the best professional development I have ever had in my career as a teacher. If you have a chance to come here, do it – everything about this place is NUMERO UNO!

I am super satisfied with how everything went at school. The best part is the wonderful teachers.
