The IALC Workshop in Salerno, 2026: Educating Beyond Borders Connecting Across Cultures
Another outstanding IALC Workshop has come to a close, bringing together the global language travel community in the beautiful setting of Salerno, Italy.
The 2026 event welcomed more than 260 delegates, who took part in nearly 2,500 one-to-one meetings across two intensive workshop days — creating new partnerships, strengthening existing ones, and driving business for the year ahead.
In total, 96 IALC member schools teaching 11 languages were represented, alongside 106 agencies from 33 countries. Altogether, delegates travelled from 41 countries, underlining the truly international reach and diversity of the IALC network.
The event began with our Industry Insights afternoon, setting a thoughtful and forward-looking tone for the days ahead. A standout moment was the provoking panel discussion on the evolving relationship between direct and agency sales in our sector. Bringing together representatives of schools, agents, industry leaders, and both agency and school associations, the panel featured Claudio Cesarano (ALTO), Gabriela Ardito (ARSAA), Blanca Roters Coca (CLIC Seville, Cadiz & Malaga), Valeria Hennessy (International House Bristol), Kevin McNally (International House Torquay), and Flavio Crusoe (BELTA), and was expertly moderated by Scott Wade (StudyTravel Ltd). The discussion sparked open and constructive dialogue on transparency, trust, and the future of collaboration — themes that continued to resonate throughout the event.
Beyond the meeting tables, delegates experienced the very best of Italian hospitality and culture. From exceptional regional cuisine to an unforgettable evening at the opera, the social programme provided the perfect setting for meaningful connections to develop in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Francesca Romana Memoli, Director of Accademia Italiana, for her invaluable support in curating such memorable experiences and for welcoming us to her beautiful school.
We would also like to thank our sponsors, GuardMe International, sponsor of the Gala Dinner, and GT Educational Center, sponsor of the Welcome Reception, for their continued support of the IALC community.
As always, the IALC Workshop demonstrated the strength of our network — built not only on business, but on trust, shared values, and a commitment to quality language education worldwide.
We look forward to welcoming you to the next edition in San Sebastián, 15–18 April 2027.
