Since 2009, Caminhos Language Centre has been the leading school in Brazil for learning Brazilian Portuguese. Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro, we offer both group courses and private classes at all levels throughout the year.

Caminhos Language Centre provides a variety of tailored Portuguese language programs to suit the diverse needs of our students.
Our most popular offerings are our Intensive Group Courses, conducted from 09:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday, catering to learners at all levels. The collaborative environment and interactive sessions make these courses a favorite among our students. We offer these group classes throughout the entire year, ensuring a minimum of 8 levels to accommodate diverse learning needs.
Private Classes at Caminhos provide a personalized learning experience, offering dedicated attention to individuals. This allows students to progress at their own pace, guided by a curriculum that is specifically tailored to align with their unique goals and interests. Whether focusing on conversational skills, specialized vocabulary, or other specific language objectives, our Private Classes cater to the distinct learning preferences of each student
Additionally, we provide a range of specialized courses, such as CELPE-Bras preparation (the official proficiency certificate in Portuguese for non-native speakers), conversational afternoon courses, and unique programs like Portuguese & Samba, Portuguese & Surf, Portuguese & Capoeira, along with various immersion courses. These offerings offer students personalized experiences that seamlessly blend language learning with specific interests and activities, enhancing the dynamic and enjoyable aspects of their Portuguese language journey.

The Celpe-Bras exam, organized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), stands as the sole official proficiency certificate in Brazilian Portuguese for foreign language learners, acknowledged by the Brazilian government. This comprehensive exam assesses proficiency in writing, reading, listening, and speaking, offering four levels of certification: Intermediate, Higher Intermediate, Advanced, and Higher Advanced. Recognized globally, Celpe-Bras serves as a formal certification of Portuguese language skills, often required by businesses, educational institutions, and essential for international students seeking enrollment in Brazilian universities.
Administered twice a year in April and October, the exam provides opportunities for learners to showcase their language proficiency. At Caminhos Language Centre, our dedicated teachers are specifically trained to prepare students for the Celpe-Bras exam. Our teacher coordinator develops personalized study plans, aligning with the student's timeframe and ensuring thorough preparation for one of the two exam dates.
Mais Caminhos’ is Caminhos Language Centre's social program dedicated to providing educational and cultural activities for underprivileged Brazilian children and teenagers. Rooted in the belief that education can transform lives, Mais Caminhos was initiated to offer extra opportunities to underprivileged youth. Sponsored by Caminhos Language Centre, the program's name pays homage to the orphanage 'Casa do Caminhos' it was originally affiliated with.
The history of Mais Caminhos spans various initiatives, starting with the Casa do Caminhos Orphanage, supported by Caminhos Language Centre from 2009 to 2012. Following the orphanage's closure, ongoing support was extended to the children to help them sustain themselves in the city of Xerém.
Programs under Mais Caminhos include 'Caminhos In Action,' volunteer days collaborating with the community, and 'Brave Kids,' a unique cultural-educational project uniting children worldwide. Mais Caminhos also offers family support, complementary education programs, tutoring, English courses, scholarships, and food basket distribution during the pandemic.
The program's impact is significant, relying on international students and volunteers who donate not only funds but also time, effort, compassion, and care. Supported by various sources, including Caminhos Language Centre, Avante Educação Brasil, and donations from private donors and companies, Mais Caminhos continues to make a positive difference in the lives of underprivileged children in Rio de Janeiro.
