Melton College York
The oldest language school in the North!
Melton College, York, founded in 1963, is a small, family run language school and exam centre. The College is run from a beautiful Victorian villa set in a large garden in a quiet, safe residential area close to the centre.
The College is known for the individual attention given to each student. Part of this comes from not expanding in the high season. We stay small and focussed!

Programmes offered
Junior Courses:
We welcome young learners from 11 - 17 as individuals (we also take open groups) on our series of Junior Courses, running; January, February, Easter, Summer and October.
Gold Courses:
For students aged 40+ a great mix of language learning and getting to know England’s best Historic City! Taken together, our Junior Courses and Gold Courses make Melton College a great choice for families!
Adult Courses:
For students aged 16+ (18+) during the summer. 15 or 22.5 (real) hours of tuition per week (not including tutorials and self-study).
Option to add Exams and Exam Preparation.
Exam Preparation:
Leading to Cambridge FCE and CAE and IELTS.
Group Courses:
For schools, colleges, companies and teachers, including mini-stay and PON groups.

Homestay, personally selected and monitored by our Head of Student Services – some families are now the second generation welcoming our students!
We own our own hotel, next door to the College. This has a range of rooms offered on a partial-board basis; single, twin, double, family and suite as well as a 3-bedroom self-catering apartment.

2000 years of history are packed into the finest city walls in the country! From the Romans through the Saxons, Vikings, Normans and up to the present day, the history of York is truly the history of England.
York is now one of the country’s favourite destination for short holidays, a major centre for education and a popular choice for shopping.
York has a very English feel and the people of Yorkshire are famously friendly.
We enjoy the same climate as the rest of the UK (drier than the west) and have excellent rail links – 2 hours to London, 2.5 hours to Edinburgh.
Exam options
We are a centre for Cambridge and Trinity and we are the only IELTS Centre in the City.
We offer preparation courses all year leading to FCE, CAE and IELTS.
Additional information
York is a very safe city and has a large traffic free shopping area. The size of York means everything is within walking distance and most of our families live within 3kms of the College.
The College is in a beautiful old building but the facilities are very modern, with fibre optic high speed broadband throughout, Interactive Whiteboards in the main classrooms, student computers and a set of iPads for students to use.
We have a café selling hot and cold drinks, food, snacks and hot food.
