Saint Julian’s is a popular destination on the coast of Malta. It was the first town in Malta to be conquered by French troops. Now the small town gracefully blends its fishing village charm and tourist like centre.
Spinola Palace, a fine piece of Latin architecture, built-in 1688 by knight Fra Paolo Raffaele Spinola was used for cultural activities. The Old Parish Church is another popular historical site, with the earliest documented evidence being 1601, where Bishop Tommaso Gargallo says the church was built in 1580 and was dedicated to Saint Julian. Not too far from Spinola Bay, you’ll come across the much quieter Balluta Bay. One of the top places for a lovely swim. If you’re there at the right time, during the low tide a small section of sandy beach is exposed. You can explore the bay with snorkelling, sunbathing and even venture with a dive to see the shipwrecks.
