Trophy presented to St. Clare’s students by Andrew Smith, MP, and BEET director, Clive Barrow

A mixed team from the International Baccalaureate course at St Clare's Oxford won the IALC Trophy at this year's Oxford Fun Run, which raised an estimated 16,000 GBP for various charities. The IALC Trophy is open to teams from IALC accredited language schools taking part in the Fun Run, which has become a popular annual excursion for students learning English in the UK.

The winning IALC team were: Christopher Rueger from Germany, Platon Petrov from Russia and twins Lacinia and Cerelia Caesar from Denmark. They were among 495 participants, an estimated half of which were students and staff from IALC-accredited schools: BEET, CES Leeds, ELC Bristol, English in Chester, English in Margate, St. Clare's Oxford and Wimbledon School of English.

The trophy was presented on behalf of IALC by BEET director Clive Barrow, together with Andrew Smith, MP. All four students hope to pursue university studies in the UK once they have completed their International Baccalaureate at St. Clare's, Oxford.

Another IALC winner was Kim Selby, who teaches on the General English and Cambridge Exam courses at Wimbledon School of English, who won the Leading Lady Trophy.

The annual Oxford Fun Run is great day out for English language students in the UK, combining fund-raising with sport and friendly rivalry, and a wonderful post-race barbecue at which 850 sausages and 90 courgettes (veggies!) were consumed!
