Young Argentinians on their first trip to Scotland

Here’s a round-up of deals, innovations and reasons to book English in the UK with IALC this year.

CANTERBURY

London School of English Canterbury's new General English 30+ course is doing very well in a wide range of markets and the winter promotion runs until Easter.

LONDON

London School of English London reports strong interest in the new London School of International Communication (LSIC): cross-cultural and soft-skills training for overseas and UK clients.

Wimbledon School of English, which is also seeing an upturn in bookings, says that group travel tickets to central London are cheaper than last year: an even better deal for group leaders and their students visiting central London, where they also benefit from all of the free London museums and galleries.

Also in London, Frances King School of English has been busy innovating: "Now more than ever, it is important to respond to the changing needs of our customers and, with the Pound remaining strong against many currencies, to offer quality yet affordable options," says director Garth Younghusband. OXFORD

St. Clare's, Oxford is teaching academic subjects through the medium of English this summer in several new summer courses for teenagers:

Investigative Science, Visual Arts, Practical Science and English Plus focusing on Shakespeare, Mathematics and Humanities.

And check out this new Leadership course for students aged 18 and above. It develops presentation, debating, communication and critical thinking skills and focuses on the question: "what makes a great leader?"

Over the last three years, St Clare's has spent over 8 million GBP on building a state-of-the-art Maths and Science centre, a modern visual arts studio and more stylish student accommodation.

TORQUAY

Torquay International School's special 50+ courses, launched only last month, already have bookings from Brazil, Japan and Germany, and lots of interest from other markets. And the brand new TIS Family Course is proving very popular as a new product with established agents.

WORCESTER

Kingsway also have lots happening at their lovely boutique English school:

- Low season offer: low season discounts at 3 points in the year.

- 1:1 guarantee: Kingsway upgrades people to 1:1 lessons without decreasing the total hours of the course booked or charging extra if there isn't a group running at their level.

- Unique Christmas experience: A special social programme for December includes Kingsway's famous "Christmas dinner at the directors' home".

- New IELTS course for medics: Kingsway is moving into IELTS preparation for medical professionals as EU nationals now need to pass IELTS 7.0 or higher to work in the UK.

SCOTLAND

GSE's Hamilton School of English brand has already tripled the number of groups booked for the pre-summer period in 2016. Pictured are a group of young Argentinians on their first trip to Scotland. And later this year Hamilton welcome its first students and teachers from Morocco. Along with its year-round sister schools, Glasgow School of English and Global School of English in Edinburgh, Hamilton is competitively priced, says group director Andrew Lennox.
