Quality Language Schools Worldwide

New IALC member Taronja School in Valencia offers a unique Spanish cooking course with a changing menu of recipes. It is available on set dates twice a year or as a closed group.

The course teaches famous, typical and important Spanish dishes with a special focus on Valencian cooking, such as the world-famous rice and paella recipes. Practical cooking classes are combined with gastronomic culture activities such as museum visits, excursions, restaurants and bars, all under the care of the charismatic “Chef Nando.”

The special recipe in the next course is Black Rice, a type of paella with fish in which the rice is coloured with squid ink. Pictured is "Chef Nando" (who looks a little like school director Fernando Batalla) crushing garlic and parsley, making another of the great Spanish recipes taught in every course: “Alioli” - a mayonnaise sauce with garlic.

The Spanish cookery course at Taronja School gives students a wide range of vocabulary and expressions related to the world of food. Chef Nando also lets his students in on the most secret places in Valencia - places that the everyday tourists are not aware of…

The course has been running for 4 years and lasts one week. The programme is 5 – 7 hours a day (3 hours of cooking classes plus 2 – 4 hours of activities). There are two starting dates in 2012: 02 July / 17 September

Groups of 4 people or more can request a different date.
