English Courses for Adults and a separate Summer School for Teenagers
Kingsway is a small, boutique English language school in England providing outstanding quality short English language courses for adults. We have an obsession with quality and attention to detail to ensure that every aspect of your visit is the best it can be. Discerning adults wanting to learn or improve their English who are used to high levels of professionalism will feel completely at home here. With a minimum age of 25 and an average age of 45, our students appreciate the mature, adult atmosphere and the total lack of teenagers!
Based in the centre of the historic, English cathedral city of Worcester, Kingsway benefits from being the only English language school in the city. Not only can we pick and choose the very best homestays for mature adults (all within walking distance), but our students are welcomed as interesting visitors to the city.
Programmes offered
English Courses for Adults
We are open 50 weeks a year for General English courses for adults (max 6 in group), Business English courses for adults (max 4 in group) and 1:1 English lessons in a wide variety of combinations. Our full-time intensive English courses for adults are 30 hours tuition/week but we also offer 22.5 hours and 15 hour courses. A Kingsway hour is 60 minutes! Please note that Kingway’s General English group courses are also suitable for professional people due to the nature of our clients.
English Summer School for Teenagers
For 4 weeks in July/August we run a small English Summer School for individual teenagers. This is based at a prestigious independent day school which is only 500 metres from our adult English language centre. We have the same obsession with quality for our junior programme and the same academic philosophy and general ethos. This means that for 4 weeks every summer we can offer family courses.
Family English Courses (Parents and Children)
For children aged between 13 and 17 years we can provide family English courses during the dates of our English summer school. The adults can choose any English course for adults at our adult centre and the teenagers join the English summer school. The family can stay together in a homestay or they can be in different homestays. Those who enrol early enough also have the option of a Kingsway self-catering apartment.

All our homestays are in the best areas of the city and all are within walking distance. Some are only a 5-minute walk but we have some outstanding executive homestays which are a 40 minute walk away. All are native English speakers & very welcoming. We are well-known amongst our agents for our outstanding homestays. Kingsway owns 2 x two-bedroomed apartments which are only 200 metres away. They are immaculately clean, very stylish & serviced weekly.
Local area
Worcester is a small, historic city (population 95,000) & one of England’s hidden gems. Located on the River Severn in the centre of England, it is close to open countryside and offers clear views across to the beautiful Malvern Hills. The magnificent 1,000 year old cathedral houses the tombs of a king, a prince and a prime minister.
The city is small enough to get to know easily and feel at home in. It has many architecturally interesting buildings as well as excellent shopping and a wide range of pubs, bars and restaurants. It is a safe city and the local people have a neutral accent.
Within an hour of Worcester are some of the UK’s “must see” locations such as Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick Castle, the Cotswold villages, Bath and Oxford. The border between England & Wales is only about 60 km away.
Worcester is only 40 minutes by road or rail from Birmingham, the UK’s 2nd city. There you will find excellent shopping (including big London stores such as Selfridges) as well as sophisticated cultural entertainment in theatres & concert halls and a vibrant restaurant scene. Birmingham airport (BHX) is our nearest airport.
Exam options
A Kingsway course is an investment in a very special experience. We create the perfect conditions for mature and motivated adults to relax and concentrate on their learning. Even break times are learning opportunities as the school’s rule is “English Only” and the directors and other staff mix with the students.
There are lots of extras included in every course. Every Monday lunchtime we provide either a networking buffet in school or a meal at a local restaurant. This gives new arrivals the opportunity to meet everyone else and contributes to our friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Hot and cold drinks and biscuits are provided at break times. Stationery is provided as are all learning materials.
The school has free Wi-Fi access throughout the building and plenty of computers for student use. All classrooms have large screen TVs and internet access. There is an excellent ratio of support staff to students so there is always someone to help with anything.
