Learn to cook Bolognese in Italian online with IALC-accredited language school ALCE in Bologna.
As well as offering online Italian courses due to the travel restrictions implemented worldwide, ALCE has started to upload cooking classes in Italian with their co-director Luca.
For their first video Luca shows students how to cook a traditional Bolognese in Italian:
The family-run Italian language school is located in Bologna, a city famous for its food in Northern Italy. Local people say ‘Bologna - la dotta, la grassa, e la rossa’ which roughly translates as “Bologna, home of the educated (dotta) the red landscape (the red rooftops of the city) and the rich food (la grassa)”.
Bologna's famous foods include: mortadella (sliced sausage that is often called Bologna in other parts of the world), tortellini (hand-rolled pasta filled with meat or cheese) and tagliatelle (long flat pasta often served with a delicious meat sauce called ragu).
