World Expo updates from Mandarin House Chinese School in Shanghai

26 октября 2009

In 18 months’ time, IALC will hold its first Asian workshop in Shanghai, hosted by Mandarin House Chinese school, and attendees will see firsthand the exciting new developments created for the World Expo in 2010.

Less than a year after Beijing hosted the Summer Olympics, Shanghai is gearing up for its own mega-event: the 2010 World Expo. Shanghai is a bustling metropolis of roughly 18 million people, and despite of the global financial crisis, the city government is planning to spend US$45 billion, more than was spent on the entire Beijing Olympics, to upgrade Shanghai’s infrastructure and build new transportation links. By the time the six-month-long World Expo opens next May, Shanghai will have two new airport terminals, a new subway system and a $700 million promenade along its historic riverfront. New parks, roads and bridges are already opening. The Expo is also advancing a larger government goal of bolstering the economy and turning Shanghai into a global financial centre and a world-class city.

Leading up to, and during, the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, Mandarin House will be as active as ever providing Chinese language training and internship projects, ranging from Intensive Courses to Private Courses, from Business Chinese to Summer Camp.
