The popular festivity called San Isidro, the most important celebration of the year in Nerja, took place in the town on the 15th of May. It is the day when people of Nerja walk a special route through the countryside in honour of the saint of agriculture, San Isidro.

The celebration symbolises the friendship, fraternity and solidarity between everyone. On this day, the streets are decorated, ladies wear their prettiest flamenco dresses and beautiful Spanish horses and wagons drawn by oxen are paraded along the way.

As the tradition dictates, residents wear white suit and red handkerchief around the necks, and so did the students of Escuela de Idiomas. Enjoying the day together, friends, family, the young and the elderly walk from the town centre to the hill, singing, eating and drinking typical products of Andalusia. And when they reach the end of the walk, people stay on and have fun well into the night.
