Six candidates who sat the first computer-based Cambridge FCE exam at the Langports Surfers Paradise campus on the Gold Coast in July 2012 have given very positive feedback. The students, who were from Brazil, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Japan and South Korea, took their speaking test on a Friday afternoon and on Saturday completed Writing, Reading, Use of English and Listening.

The candidates enjoyed the format of the exam and found it easy to navigate. They also found the tutorial at the beginning of each section very helpful and said that it gave them a clearer picture of what they needed to do to answer each question.

A major benefit of the computer-based examinations is the speed at which the results are processed: two weeks compared to six-eight weeks for paper-based results.

Overall, the candidates were extremely satisfied with their exam experience and would recommend the computer-based exam format to fellow students.

The Langports English Exams Centre (LEEC) offers students the choice of paper-based and computer-based versions of the Cambridge ESOL exams, since some prefer doing it on computer, while others still like the traditional pen and paper method.
