Quality Language Schools Worldwide

There were awards for 12 study abroad agencies and four students at the annual Canadian Premier International Education Awards (CPIEAs) on September 22, 2016. The awards took place at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Another six awards went to organisations supporting education abroad.

The CPIEAs, formerly the PABAs, are sponsored by CLLC, an IALC member, as well as islBooking, RBC, and Lugza.

The CPIEAs were created to help young people to cope with the challenges of studying abroad by recognising the good work of quality educational agencies. There are four categories for agencies. New in 2016, the GOLD winners in each of these categories will select a local student from a disadvantaged background for a scholarship provided by CLLC.

Speaking at the awards, Aly Rajab, President of CLLC and creator of the CPIEAs, said: "International Education brings cultures together and makes the world a beautiful garden full of many different flowers.”

The Awards in Full:

Agency of the Year Gold – Blue Studies International (Australia) Silver – IGEC (Saudi Arabia) Bronze – Ad Astra (Mexico)

Small Agency of the Year Gold – Extudia (Colombia) Silver – You Can Learn (Mexico) Bronze – Trust Intercambio (Brazil)

Dynamic Agency of the Year Gold – London Help 4U (United Kingdom) Silver – Study Links (United Kingdom) Bronze – International Media of Thought (Iran)

New Agency of the Year Gold – Tutor You (Italy) Silver – Artemus (Mauritius) Bronze – Ambassador (Pakistan)

Government Category The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, on behalf of the Government of Canada, for efforts to enhance Canada’s global reputation as an open society, supporting middle class businesses, lifting Mexican visa requirements, and doubling the number of the visa offices in China.

Business Category His Excellency Naif Bin Bandir Alsudairy, Saudi Ambassador to Canada, on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for investing $10 billion in the 15,000 Saudi students who have studied in Canada over the last decade, as well as financially and culturally supporting the education of 120,000 students studying in 30 countries.

School Category Dr. Roseann O’Reilly Runte, President and Vice Chancellor of Carleton University, on behalf of Carleton University, for its dedication to international education, global affairs, and its concerted efforts to highlight and publicize the plight of Ugandans through its “Uganda Collection.”

Educational Associations Category Gonzalo Peralta, Executive Director of Languages Canada, on behalf of Languages Canada, for efforts to represent its 225 members nation-wide, supporting Syrian refugees, and showcasing Canada as the top destination for English and French language education.

Recruiter Associations Category a) Bert Vercamer, General Manager of Sentio, Global Education Network, for its dedication to promoting intercultural learning for 1000’s of students world-wide and its work to help them develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

b) Angy Vinueza, member of COICEC Ecuador, for its mandate to support and promote its agencies, and therefore Ecuadorian youth, through a cohesive strategy of local and international training for members, a strict Code of Ethics, and a spirit of cooperation.

Student Category Four students were recognized by past CPIEA winners and receive a 12-week, all expenses paid scholarship by Innovator Sponsor CLLC to study English at CLLC Ottawa:

• Abdulrazaq Althobaiti (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) • Daria Buniakina (Ukraine) • Hector Ballesteros (Colombia) • Jean Frances Pesse (Brazil)

The CPIEA organization committee and judging panel will be selecting 2018 awardees and inviting educational recruiters to submit their applications from January 2017 for the 2018 event. This new biennial format will provide international education stake holders with more time to apply and be recognized.
