Cape Town, which has always been the design and culture capital of South Africa, is the official World Design Capital 2014. This prestigious title is awarded by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, and Cape Town was chosen at the 2011 International Design Alliance Congress in Taipei.

From the wine region in Stellenbosch to the multi-cultural city centre, the Cape Town region is rich in diversity. Throughout 2014, Cape Town will be in the spotlight as the World Design Capital 2014. World Design capitals are dedicated to using design as a tool for social, cultural and economic development. Previous Design Capitals include Helsinki, Seoul and Turin.

So 2014 will be an exciting time to learn English in Cape Town. There will be exhibitions, talks and festivals dedicated to design, focussing on the South African context, and on how design can help heal the past and improve lives.

Good Hope Studies are already receiving enquiries from students who want to take part in the World Design Capital programme in Cape Town in 2014.
