New summer course: intensive English for 12-16 year-olds

Wimbledon School of English is opening a new summer school for juniors in Lord Wandsworth College, one of the UK's premier boarding schools. Dates: 10 July to 13 August 2016.

WSE will offer Residential English language courses to students aged 12 to 16. The campus is on the Surrey/Hampshire border, just an hour from London, and it is set in almost 500 hectares of beautiful countryside. Students will be treated to a traditionally-British boarding school experience, living in modern boarding houses with large, well-equipped relaxation and leisure areas.

"We are the only school in the UK to have received 15 strengths in a British Council Inspection and one of these strengths is the care of under-18s so we are thrilled to be able to use this expertise in a separate summer school for juniors," explains Kieran Hayde, Marketing & Groups manager at the school.

WSE opens this new centre following strong demand from their partners worldwide. Maintaining their reputation for serious, academic study in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the school offers intensive English training: 15 hours of General English and 6 hours of language skills workshop.

"We have developed some really innovative workshops that will enable students to develop additional academic and practical skills, explains Hayde. "Workshops include a junior journalist programme, a film making and social media course, and a debating, presentations and public speaking option. We will also run an IELTS taster course and since WSE is an IELTS test centre, we will be offering the exam on-site at the end of the course."

Students will also have the opportunity to practice their english outside the classroom.

Lord Wandsworth College is renowned for its world-class sports facilities and students will have use of tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, two sports halls, and a number of grass and Astroturf pitches. They will also be able to take dance and fitness classes, arts and crafts clubs, music workshops and a number of evening social activities. And finally, the programme will also include one half-day and two full -day excursions per week.

WSE are taking applications now for 2016, for individuals and small groups.
