Fort Lauderdale's mayor expressed his appreciation of TLA's English language school program to students, staff and host families at TLA's graduation ceremony on 28 August 2015.
The attending students came from the UAE, Italy, Russia, France, Switzerland and Germany among other countries and had spent four to eight weeks attending English lessons in the morning and sightseeing in Florida while staying with local families.
Mayor Jack Seiler thanked the Fort Lauderdale community in the audience who acted as host moms, dads, brothers and sisters and opened their homes and hearts to TLA students. He mentioned that Fort Lauderdale is a host to the world quoting the 68th straight month of tourism growth.
Mayor Seiler also hailed TLA as a driving force of tourism and trade, attracting hundreds of students to Fort Lauderdale every year. "These individuals will go back to their countries having built ties with families here and with the safe, welcoming environment the city of Fort Lauderdale provides, " Mayor Seiler said. "TLA's programs give the Fort Lauderdale community a chance to interact with the world, a chance to bring friendship, business and commerce but most of all we bring smiles and send them home with you". He addressed the TLA students saying, "every time you think of Fort Lauderdale, I hope it brings a smile to your face". "There is no better place to live, work, play, visit and especially to learn than Fort Lauderdale!" He encouraged all to treasure the relationships formed and keep in touch.
TLA-The Language Academy offers English language programmes for international students and business executives on Andrews Avenue in Museum Plaza. Established in 1998, the school welcomes students from over 58 countries each year. Accreditations and recognitions include ACCET, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and training, English USA, IALC, ALTO and NAFSA.
