A group of 50 underprivileged children aged 7 to 16 visited LSC Toronto for 10 days in July. The trip was sponsored by a charitable foundation funded by Apotex Pharmaceuticals in Mexico City and organised by Tecama Viajes.
The Foundation's aim was to give children from low economic resources an opportunity to experience something their families would never be able to provide. The trip is hoped
to have expanded the children's horizons and helped shape their future by seeing another lifestyle.
LSC Toronto prepared a specialised children's programme with English classes in the morning and afternoon activities. Highlights included a visit to Niagara Falls, a walk on the glass floor of the CN Tower 342 metres above ground, an amusement park and several museums. The children also took part in arts and crafts where they decorated their own t-shirts, made a Canadian flag and a native-Canadian Dream Catcher.
The staff of LSC and the residence were impressed by how well behaved the children were for their entire stay and a great time was had by all.
