Babilonia Italian school in Sicily has signed a reciprocal agreement with the Taormina International Film Festival, one of the highlights of the region's summer arts programme. The partnership means that Babilonia's students will be able to participate in the cinema campus and masterclasses organised by the festival. And festival-goers will get a 25% reduction on courses at Babilonia during the festival.
The Italian language school already runs popular cinema courses twice a year in January and June. From June 2009, students on the school's Cinema of the Mediterranean: Through the Italian Lens course will receive passes to the festival giving them access to film screenings, workshops, and lectures. They will also be able to meet the visiting actors, directors, critics and professors taking part in the festival. Film screenings are held in Taormina's ancient Greek theatre, while lectures take place in the historic Palazzo Corvaia, with simultaneous translations provided.
