On Saturday, October 15, the Rennert New York TESOL Center held its fifth bi-annual TESOL mini-conference. The event was attended by over 90 teachers and administrators of ESL institutions in the New York area.
The Rennert International event started with breakfast, followed by networking opportunities and visits from a few big names in the English language publishing industry.
Teachers took part in presentations on a variety of subjects including reading, using technology, pronunciation and grammar. There were also sessions on building leadership skills and developing professional development programmes that were specifically for programme administrators. Members of Rennert’s teaching and teacher training team presented sessions, in addition to guest presentations from LIU and Cambridge University Press.
The event has been running since 2014, with many teachers continuing to return for the effectiveness of the practical focus of the conference.
This year’s event was co-sponsored by the New York State TESOL organisation and the World Learning SIT Graduate Institute. Both also exhibited at the conference with representatives giving a practice-based presentation.
