Eastbourne School of English is one of IALC's newest members, but one of the oldest language schools in the association. The English language school on the south-east coast of England marks its 70th anniversary in 2006, and celebrated in style in June with two parties in a large marquee in its beautiful gardens. The student party had a 1930s theme, with students dressing in black and white like an old film and dancing to swing music from the same period. The next evening, past and present teachers, host families, friends and representatives of the school gathered for a second celebration. During the two-day celebrations, 70 balloons were released, each with a tag with a message of goodwill from the students. The balloons travelled north from Eastbourne and one is reported to have landed near Gatwick Airport!
