Lingualink in Israel recently won one of our free school scholarships, our weekly prize for agents who register their place at IALC Workshop in Toronto.
We spoke to Anita Siegel to find out more about Lingualink and their plans for the 2012 IALC Workshop in Toronto.
Q: Congratulations Anita, you are the seventh winner of our weekly free scholarship prize draw. How do you feel?
A: Great! What a nice surprise.
Q: What are you most looking forward to at the 2012 IALC Workshop?
A:To meet all the nice people from the IALC schools. Many of them are my partners.
Q: At the Workshop you’ll be able to meet over 100 IALC schools, covering nine major languages in destinations across the world. What are your particular interests - destinations, languages, programmes, age-groups?
A: I have a wide range of interests and I like to be able to respond to an ever growing spread of clients.
Q: You were established in 1991. How have things changed at the agency since then?
A: Whereas the majority of our clients back then were in their 30’s and 40’s and many of them were looking for a kind of vacation in Italy and Spain, the majority of today’s clients are young people in the 20’s. Most of them want to improve their English, but some want to learn another language, mainly Italian or German. The age range of clients has spread from teenagers to mature people in the 50’s, 60’s and also 70’s.
Q: Where does the majority of your student business come from e.g. walk-in, word-of-mouth, website...?
A: Approximately 40% of the clients are word-of-mouth and 60% from the website.
Q: Has the source of your student business changed for you over the years?
A: Over the years, the website has gained in importance.
Q: What do you see as the biggest challenges in the year ahead?
A:The year started in a very positive way. The biggest challenge is to keep the momentum going.
Q: Moving on to find out more about you, which is your favourite travel destination?
A: I love going to Switzerland, especially the mountains, but I also love Italy , France, New York, San Francisco and many more places.
Q: Your favourite pastime?
A: Spending time with close friends.
Q: Your favourite song?
A: I don’t have a favourite song, as strange as this may seem. I enjoy American folk music, Irish music, French songs and lots of Israeli songs.
Q: Your favourite meal?
A: Pasta with slightly sautéed vegetables.
Q: Your dream dinner guest?
A: Dream dinner guests? No dinner guests at all! Dreams, yes, I am a dreamer and I have dreams, but these I keep to myself.
Thank you Anita and we look forward to meeting you at the IALC Workshop in April.
