IALC schools ELC Brighton and Eastbourne acquire fellow IALC school English in Chester

ELC are very pleased to announce that they have reached agreement and are about to exchange contracts with Richard Day for the acquisition of EiC by ELC. This will bring together 3 of the oldest, most prestigious schools in the UK.

This is very much a merger of like-minded schools with a passion and commitment to excellence in customer service. The schools are well-known to each other and have collaborated frequently over many years. In order to maintain the high levels of customer service and quality, bookings, accommodation EiC will continue to be managed locally. 

ELC Chief Executive, Phil Hopkins, will have overall responsibility for the organisation. Nigel Paramor will remain as Principal of English in Chester. Richard Day will continue to play a major role, using his vast experience of the industry to benefit the enlarged charity.

ELC is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1962. In 2010 it merged with Eastbourne School of English, founded in 1936. English in Chester was founded in 1976. All 3 schools are highly-ranked Centres of Excellence based on EL Gazette’s review of British Council inspection results, members of TEN, IALC and Quality English.
