Organised by Oxford English Centre and with a special event for language schools, the seventh annual Oxford Fun Run took place in Oxford University Parks on 10 May and raised around £7000 for charity. Local Member of Parliament Andrew Smith started the race and once again St Clare's Running Club claimed the competitive prizes. The Fancy Dress Trophy sponsored by Hothouse Media, publishers of Language Travel Magazine, was closely contested, with the winners for the second year coming from the main beneficiary of the event, Pathway Workshop. The 300 hungry runners then wound down at the post-race barbecue at Oxford English Centre.
Oxford English Centre would be very happy to see teams from other IALC schools in next year's race and OEC Principal Graham Simpson has challenged the IALC Secretariat to field a team in 2009!
