IALC and JAOS unite for coordinated scholarship program

In recognition of the 25th Anniversary of the Japan Association of Overseas Studies (JAOS), the International Association of Language Centres (IALC) has been working on a coordinated scholarship program to help Japanese nationals prepare for the upcoming events such as the Tokyo Olympics, Paralympic Games in 2020 and the Rugby World Cup 2019.

IALC and JAOS are now pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed and IALC member schools have pledged scholarships worth an estimated 100,000 Euros.

The scholarships will be awarded by JAOS member agencies to Japanese students who would like to volunteer at these international events. Students will be offered four weeks tuition and accommodation.

IALC president Giorgia Biccelli said, “IALC and JAOS scholarship campaign is an innovative multilayered initiative which will impact positively in the Japanese Study Abroad Industry. IALC has found in JAOS an excellent partner. IALC schools have responded very generously to this call of action.

For both our organization this first step opens up future opportunities which will be beneficial for all our members.” IALC vice-president of marketing Robin Adams added, “I am delighted to be part of this exciting campaign.

Through the commitment of both JAOS and IALC Member schools, we will be able to assist Japanese students in going beyond learning a language, and to explore unique experiences in preparation for their efforts volunteering at international sporting events in Japan”.

IALC would like to thank Mr. Yasuo Sone, JAOS President and Mr. Tatsuhiko Hoshino, Executive Secretary (JAOS) for their effort and support for this campaign.
