From autumn 2006, the Cambridge Academy of English (CAE) will hold preparation courses for the world's first accredited examination in English for Law. The International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) is the result of five years of development by Cambridge ESOL, the University of Cambridge faculty specialising in English testing.
The examination takes place twice a year in the UK, in May and November, is aimed at upper-intermediate to advanced learners of English and can be taken by law students and qualified lawyers alike. The ILEC preparation courses at CAE will run each spring and autumn. Law companies around the world have long awaited the specialised examination, which will enable them to externally validate the English abilities of their employees and to recruit new staff.
