ELC Australia has signed an important Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education and Training in Vietnam to operate the Teach and Travel Vietnam program (TTV). Under the program, ELC will recruit, train and place up to 500 English teachers per year into the public education system throughout Vietnam. The aim is to increase English proficiency in Vietnamese schools.
The agreement, signed on 16 January 2013, was witnessed by the Trade Commissioner for Australia in Vietnam, Ms Elodie Journet, and the Deputy Minister for Education and Training, Nguyen Vinh Hien. David Scott, Managing Director of ELC Australia commented: "This is a large scale project which ELC is proud to have initiated. ELC will provide high-quality, well-trained English teachers as well as on-the-ground training and support for them while they are in Vietnam. We will work closely with the Government of Vietnam to raise the standards of English teaching and learning throughout the public education system."
