From 16 March to 9 October 2006, France will move to the rhythm of the French language's cultural and linguistic diversity. Various artists from different backgrounds and countries have been invited to express their distinctiveness and share their interpretation of “La Francophonie” in more than 400 events, including dance, music, theatre, circuses, exhibitions, symposiums and meetings. Over 2000 artists, film-makers, writers, poets, interpreters, editors, heads of companies and other participants will play their part in the festival.
The France Langue French language schools in Paris and Nice, celebrating their 30th anniversary year in 2006, are proudly supporting the Francofffonies festival. French is spoken by 180 million people on 5 continents and is the second language studied by 82.5 million people in the world. Tens of thousands of students from over 80 countries have learned French with France Langue since its foundation in 1976.
