DILIT, established in 1974, is one of the most prestigious Italian language schools in Italy offering a great variety of Italian language courses all year round. Each year around approx. 1600 international students choose to attend our Italian courses to live an “Italian” experience.

DILIT is an exam center for Italian exams of the University in Siena (CILS) and Perugia (CELI). A friendly and familiar atmosphere will help you to learn Italian in an Italian environment, learning not only the Italian language but getting to know the Italian culture through Italian Art and Culture courses and a rich social program.

Italian and Italian Culture

DILIT offers a wide a range of Italian courses with the possibility to combine Italian language and Italian culture to allow you to enjoy the experience of learning Italian. With us you will get to know the ins and outs of our beautiful language and world-famous culture.Our highly qualified and dedicated teachers with an average of 12 years’ experience teaching Italian, will guide and encourage you and make your learning Italian fun and enjoyable, guaranteeing a high quality for all Italian full immersion programs. Dilit has its own teacher training department.

DILIT does not just teach Italian: we offer a varied program of social activities so you can practice Italian and discover the secrets of our splendid city and typical aspects of the Italian culture. Italian courses are offered all year round, from A1 Beginners to C2 Advanced with Italian beginners courses starting every 2 weeks. Students have a vast choice from Italian group lessons to Italian Individual lessons or combining both. 

Exciting programs as the Italian through Art & Culture, the 30/40 year-olds and 50+ course focusing on specific topics will teach you aspects of Italian Cooking and Wine, Italian Film-making and Cinema, Italian Fashion, Italian Art and Architecture.

Dilit has its own accommodation office for students taking Intensive Italian courses to help find a suitable accommodation during the Italian immersion course. All accommodation is centrally located and can easily be reached by public transport

Our city Rome, the Eternal city and its region “Lazio” is a fantastic choice for a full Italian immersion! No city in the world equals the history of the Eternal City, founded 2700 years ago. You will live in an antique and modern Italian city at the same time. Rome has approx. 3 million habitants. Nevertheless you can discover the city center walking leisurely through its many districts enjoying the Italian culture, Italian handcraft with lovely shops, restaurants and bars.

If you love art, Rome it the right place offering everything: from Roman archeology to contemporary art, passing through every era and style. Architecture, painting, sculpture in a continuous discovery of the variety and beauty of Italian art, in a huge open-air museum: Rome. Dream while listening to music in the Auditorium by Renzo Piano or live the great experience of an Italian Opera in the “Terme di Caracalla” in summer time. Have fun in a different club every night enjoying  live music …jazz, blues or rock while sipping a good glass of Italian wine or a genuine Italian craft beer.

Exam options

If you would like to sit for a Italian language exam, Dilit is examination centre for the CILS exam of Siena University and for the CELI exam of Perugia University.

Specialized Italian language teachers prepare you  for the exam.

The school’s building is a nice liberty villa with a small garden, two spacious terraces and a snack bar where you can taste delicious Italian food, socialize and make new friends. The result is a very international and friendly atmosphere.

Close to Rome, you can visit beautiful places rich in history: the "Castelli Romani",small villages, uncontaminated nature and an excellent Italian cuisine with genuine flavors and an excellent Italian wine production; Tivoli and its wonderful "Villa Adriana" and "Villa d'Este"; Ostia Antica: one of the most important archaeological sites in the world; Viterbo, Sutri in northern Lazio with their lakes, their small medieval towns and those landscapes that are typical of Central Italy.   The central location of Rome allows you to easily reach other major Italian cities: less than 2 hours to Florence or Naples, 3 hours to Milan, Venice or Bologna ... because it is true that all roads lead to Rome!   Romans are open minded, curious, friendly and happy to chat with foreigners.
