Limerick City, located 2.5 hours from Dublin in the south-west of Ireland is an ancient city where the River Shannon meets the Wild Atlantic Way. Limerick is one of the oldest Viking cities in Europe and is home to a multitude of historical and cultural treasures.

It was founded by Viking settlers in 812, though there is evidence of human settlement as early as 150AD. Since then it has been an important player in Irish and British history throughout the ages, from the Normans, to the Civil wars of the 17th Century.
Today it is a lively city which is proud of its past and mix of various architectural styles. There is a huge array of cultural activities and places to visit, and the majority of it can all be done on foot. From the imposing King John’s Castle to art galleries, markets and museums.
