Home stay

The benefit of Home stay is that you can practice your newfound language skills, while experiencing everyday life of St.Petersburg. Hosts are chosen because they are very sociable, so will take time to talk to you, as well as being patient, understanding and caring. We offer single rooms on a bed & breakfast or half board (breakfast and dinner) basis. If you are travelling with a family member or friend, we will do our best to provide you with a double room on request.  

Shared Flats

If you want to enjoy a true student experience, this could be the option for you. Our flats have 3 or 4 single bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a kitchen with a washing machine. Bed linen is provided and all the flats have free WiFi. This option is not more expensive than Home stay, but the flats are self-catering.

The city of St. Petersburg was founded in 1703 by the Tsar Peter the Great, who aimed to build a capital to rival the great cities of Europe. With its majestic palaces, wide boulevards and numerous canals, at times it makes you feel as if you were in Paris, Vienna or Amsterdam, but ultimately it’s uniquely Russian. Although it is no longer Russia’s political capital, there is no doubt that St. Petersburg remains the country’s cultural centre.
 

Besides the Hermitage which is a ‘must-visit’, housing one of the finest art collections in the world, Saint Petersburg boasts numerous theatres, splendid parks and architectural gems waiting to be discovered. The city demonstrates its special charm in every season, but the majority of visitors come to see it during the White Nights - a period in June which over the years has become a world-renowned tourist brand.

You can sit the TRKI Exam directly in-house at the Liden & Denz St.Petersburg Campus! 

TRKI exam is an official state testing system created in the 1990s to assess foreign students’ command of Russian. Ever since it has been mandatory for international students who aim at being enrolled in Russian universities. The TBU/TEU/TRKI certificates are also widely recognised by major Russian employers and will enhance your CV should you be pursuing a career in Russia. The six levels (ТЭУ, ТБУ, ТРКИ-1, ТРКИ-2, ТРКИ-3, ТРКИ-4) correspond to CEFR. The language skills are tested in all aspects, e.g. Grammar and Vocabulary, Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. TRKI exams are challenging and tend to be more academic than communicative and thus require specific preparation.

We recommend at least 10 individual lessons to prepare for any TRKI exam on top of our standard group classes or other general Russian course. The preparation course includes going over the mock exam with your tutor, eliciting the strong and weak points and targeting the latter. Statistically, the most challenging part of the exam is writing. There are techniques and methods to adjust the student’s language skills to the exam requirements and make a student aware of the exam structure, procedure, and other pragmatic issues.

Classroom studies are only one aspect of the Russian experience. It is just as important to put your language skills into practice. Our activity programme offers a range of free or inexpensive activities and excursions, helping to broaden your knowledge of St. Petersburg and make you talk in real life situations. From walking tours and museum visits, to weekend trips and Friday tea parties, we’ve got something for everyone!
