Alberto Sampere, founder of Estudio Sampere and of IALC, passed away in Alicante on Nov 6, 2005. He devoted his life to languages, pioneering Spanish language teaching in Madrid in the 1950s as well as language travel in Spain. Always visionary, Alberto founded IALC in 1983. He was the Association's first President and later Honorary Life President. When he retired from active management of Estudio Sampere, the family-owned Spanish language school group he established in 1956 and which is now managed by his son, Juan Manuel, Alberto became IALC ombudsman. Throughout his involvement with IALC, his energy, vision and intelligence were inspiring. Alberto Sampere was a great educator, a pillar of the language community and a man of rock-like integrity. His legacy to language training in Spain and to IALC is immeasurable.
