Taormina delicacies

As gelato is to Italy, granita is to Sicily. Consisting of sugar, thin flakes of ice and various flavourings made of crushed fresh fruit, this Sicilian drink/dessert is served in every café, bar and gelateria on the island. But there is more to the Sicilian cuisine in Taormina. For instance, the Arabs introduced aubergines and rice. The French and Spanish refined raw ingredients and were gifted with a Mediterranean stew. An honourable mention of the staple ingredient in Sicilian dishes, pasta. We’d love to name all the different types of pasta dishes you might try during your stay in Taormina, but we’ll leave the rest of the exploring to you.
