Quality Language Schools Worldwide

Babilonia language school in Sicily has several new Italian programmes for 2009. From exploring the island as a romantic getaway to celebrating New Year Sicilian style, the new packages all combine a course of Italian with aspects of Sicilian life and culture.

The “ROMANTIC TAORMINA: you & me program” invites couples to take an Italian language course and enjoy a romantic break on the “Island of the Sun”. The Italian language school is based in Taormina, a dreamy town of narrow streets, tumbling bougainvilleas, tiny squares, quaint cafés and terrace restaurants, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Bay of Naxos and Mount Etna.

LEARN 'N' TOUR is a completely new way to learn Italian and study the history, art and traditions of Sicily. It consists of a one-week bus tour accompanied by an Italian teacher and visits the main archaeological and historical sites. The group learns about the legends and mythology of the island and experiences the real Sicily while learning Italian “on the road”. The day finishes with two hours of Italian conversation classes before dinner.

TEENS & FUN will run in Taormina in July and August, when the town bustles with life and the Corso Umberto pedestrian zone teems with international young people. Concerts, shows and festivals including the International Cinema Festival take place at the Greek Theatre throughout summer. The Italian language course for teenagers includes a big choice of sports activities plus the chance to try kayaking, windsurfing and even diving lessons.

Babilonia's ART & HISTORY PROGRAM unwraps the 2500-year-old history of the island of Sicily. Situated in the centre of the Mediterranean, Sicily has served as a meeting place for three continents, each of which has contributed to its unique history and culture. Few places have been influenced by so many civilizations: the Sicani, the Sicilian, the Greeks, the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Arabs, the Normans and Spaniards.

New Year celebrations are fun and give a fascinating insight into other cultures. Babilonia's seven-day BUON CAPODANNO (HAPPY NEW YEAR ) PROGRAM IN SICILY is a chance to experience the New Year atmosphere, traditions and customs of the Sicilians as part of an Italian language programme.
