Langports’ Platinum Program is the first ever Brisbane-based, English language program offered exclusively to mature students who want to learn English while visiting Australia. This custom designed program gives students aged 40+ the opportunity to learn English in a small & dedicated classroom while getting to enjoy Australia on day trips and discover its history and aboriginal culture.
At the start of 2018 the first students of the Platinum Program, Hula from Switzerland and Paolo from Brazil, spent three weeks in Australia and had the adventure of a lifetime.
As part of the Platinum Program, Hula and Paolo experienced a number of activities to gain a better understanding of life in Australia and Paolo struggled to choose his favourite. “Among the activities we did in the Platinum Program, I really don’t know how to choose the best. Learning about Aboriginal culture, visits to museums, art galleries, and parks, beautiful islands, sailing along the rivers, experiencing local food. All were very good!” said Paolo.
When Hula arrived in Australia, she spoke little to no English but learned quickly with the help of her teacher and Langports excellent teaching methods.
“The Platinum Program is absolutely the best for beginners,” said Hula.
During the Platinum Program, Hula formed a close relationship with the program coordinator, Susie France, and she felt at home when studying in Australia.
“Langports is not only a school, Langports is a family! Your family, my family” said Hula.
The next Platinum Program will run from 7 January 2019 to 3 February 2019 and students will have the option to enrol for either one, two, or three weeks.
Students enrolled in next year’s Platinum Program will be taken on trips to Stradbroke Island, Gold Coast, Australia Zoo, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Mt Coo-tha, Noosa, and a number of other attractions that Brisbane is famous for.
Langports hopes that the success of the unique Platinum Program will pave the way for mature students to learn English, who would otherwise be too discouraged to study with students much younger than them.
